Toronto’s FIFA Fan Festival isn’t over yet. Here’s what’s happening until July 19

Toronto might be done hosting the FIFA World Cup games, but the fun doesn’t stop there. The city is still running FIFA Fanfest for two more weeks, until July 19.

What to know

  • Toronto may have hosted its last FIFA World Cup game on July 2, but FIFA Fan Festival is still at The Bentway and Fort York Historic Site until July 19.

Toronto might have completed its FIFA World Cup hosting duties, but that doesn’t mean the fun is over.

Soccer fans can catch game screenings, free activities, guided historical tours, and concerts until July 19 at FIFA Fan Festival, located at The Bentway and Fort York Historic Site. Whether you’re looking to cheer for your favourite national team or a fun afternoon with friends, FIFA Fan Festival is here to keep the party going for two more weeks. 

Here is a rundown of all the fun FIFA still has to offer:

Métis Dot Art Workshop: Stories Through Beadwork & History

  • When: July 11 to July 19

Participate in a guided painting session where you can make a fun floral bookmark or wooden ornament inspired by traditional Métis beadwork. While you’re crafting, take some time to learn about the significance of floral designs, spirit beads, and the cultural legacy of the “Flower Beadwork People.”

Kardinal Offishall Presents: Soundclash Society

  • When: July 11 to July 19

Join Canadian rapper and record producer Kardinal Offishall and his supergroup of Toronto-based DJs and special guests for a musical spectacle every day of Fanfest.

Fort York National Historic Site Guided Tour

  • When: July 11 to July 19

Have 30 minutes to spare? Go on a walking tour of Fort York National Historic Site where you can explore its history and its Toronto roots. It’s a great way to learn more about the land the site sits on and its Canadian Heritage.

Quarterfinals: Norway vs England

  • When: July 11 at 5 p.m.

It’s been a long road since Norway and England battled it out in the Group Stage. Now, they’ll face each other in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinals. Norway beat out Mexico 2-1 in the Round of 16, while England bested Mexico 3-2. Now, these two soccer greats will face each other in the quarterfinals.

The Sheepdogs

  • When: July 11, 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Saskatoon rock and roll band The Sheepdogs will be taking over the FIFA Fanfest stage July 11 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Sheepdogs were the first unsigned artist to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone and have since won four Juno Awards and have had several songs reach number one on the music charts.

Match Broadcast, Quarter Final:

  • July 11, 9 p.m.

Catch another riveting quarterfinal match between two of the best soccer playing countries in the sport. The exact teams will be announced closer to the game.        

Sam Roberts Band

  • When: July 14, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Jam out to Sam Roberts Band, an award-winning alternative rock band from Montreal as they take the stage at FIFA Fanfest on July 14. Active since 2011, Sam Roberts band have released five studio albums and have earned three Juno Awards nominations.

Death From Above 1979

  • When: July 14, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Wanting to bop to something a little heavier? Toronto-based punk rock and hardcore duo Death From Above 1979 are also playing FIFA Fanfest on July 14. Since 2004, the duo have released four albums and their 2016 record, The Physical World, won a Juno Award for Rock Album of the Year.

  • When: July 14 and July 15, 3 p.m.

  • July 18, 5 p.m.
