Where to go for a late-night, no-reservations dinner on Valentines Day

It’s not the most romantic spot, but then again, when you’re with your loved one, any place can be romantic. This 24-hour, cash-only Vietnamese restaurant does excellent giant bowls of pho filled with tendons, meatballs and beef strips, as well as crispy spring rolls. Come here for a quick bite after binge-watching Netflix on the couch or when the V-Day bash at the club fails to deliver on the food options. Word to the wise: if you’re getting takeout, reheat the broth when you get home.

It’s straight out of an Edward Hopper painting, with tiled floors, plush booths and muted walls. Split a milkshake like two lovesick college kids or have a film noir night capped with coffee and a slice of damn good pie. The extensive menu (even at 4 am) ensures your appetite will be satisfied either way, and the gorgeous retro atmosphere makes the night extra-special. Hell, you could come here for disco fries at 5 am and stay for brunch an hour or two later.

Proof that not all 24-hour eateries are diners or in Chinatown, this restaurant just south of Yonge and Bloor is cozy and elegant, with tea lights, chandeliers, dark wood and little tables for two. It specializes in sandwiches, from classic grilled cheese to hot prosciutto panini, as well as pastas and pizzas. The food is simple (it is a 24-hour resto) but delicious, and the portions are filling.
