As the provincial campaign trail reaches its halfway point, Ontario party leaders continue to make their case for votes.
On Thursday, Liberal Party leader Bonnie Crombie reiterated her promise to provide every Ontarian with a primary care physician, NDP candidate Marit Stiles emphasized her party’s commitment to protecting jobs and holding large grocers accountable for high prices, and Green Party leader Mike Schreiner promised to cancel the construction of Highway 413 and create better food security if elected.
Here’s a breakdown of what the party leaders are saying today.
BONNIE CROMBIE
The leader of the Ontario Liberal Party was in Elmvale, a town about 20 minutes north of Barrie this morning to discuss Ontario’s ongoing family doctor crisis.
Elmville has been without a family doctor since 2022, after the community physician passed away, leaving 55,000 people in the area without direct access to primary care.
In her speech, Crombie doubled down on her campaign promise to ensure everyone in the province has access to a family doctor.
“You have a choice in this election, you can vote for a Liberal government and I pledge to you today that you will have a family doctor in the next four years,” Crombie said, adding that her party will eliminate hallway medicine and reduce wait times in hospitals.
“Or you can vote for Doug Ford and the Conservative government and have a fantasy tunnel under the 401,” she said.
MARIT STILES
Leader of the Ontario NDP Marit Stiles is in Sudbury this afternoon to share her party’s plan for Northern Ontario and its workers.
She assured voters that if elected, her government would defend jobs across the province and ensure that “every dollar spent” supports Ontario steel, Ontario mined minerals and Ontario grown food.
“Ontarians are already feeling squeezed and tariffs are only going to drive all the costs higher,” she said.
Stiles shared two concrete ways it plans to help northerners make ends meet.
The party is pledging a $122 monthly rebate to cover the cost of food for “families who need it the most,” she added.
It also plans to force large grocers to tell the public when it plans to raise food prices by more than two per cent.
“I’ll be a Premier who is always on your side,” she wrote on X on Thursday.
Doug Ford has failed the North. I’ll be a Premier who is always on your side — one who actually listens and invests in your communities.

MIKE SCHRENIER
Meanwhile, the leader of the Ontario Green Party was in Caledon today where he spoke to reporters about protecting agricultural land, creating robust public transit corridors, investing in food security and preserving the greenbelt.
Schreiner went on to criticize the construction of Highway 413, calling it an “environmental and financial disaster,” promising that his party would cancel it, if elected.
“It [Highway 413] would pave over 2,000 acres of prime farmland in Ontario, threatening our $50 billion food and farming economy and our food security,” he told reporters.
Schreiner also accused the Ford government of wasting money on things in Toronto that city residents don’t even want instead of injecting funds into rural communities without access to doctors.
The Greens launched its 2025 platform yesterday, which is focused on restoring fairness to the people of Ontario.
