The Paris Olympics 2024 have concluded, and the City of Toronto is now calling on residents to nominate their favourite members of Team Canada for the Toronto Sport Hall of Honour.
The honour celebrates athletes who have brought recognition to Toronto through their sport through various awards like athlete of the year, coach of the year and Sport Legend, among many others.
While residents can nominate any player, the city is encouraging residents to show some love to Torontonians who competed at this year’s games.
Over 35 athletes from Toronto represented Canada at this year’s games, with eight of them winning medals. These athletes demonstrated remarkable talent and dedication at the Paris Olympics.

Swimmer Summer McIntosh stood out by winning three gold medals in the Women’s 400m and 200m Individual Medley, and the 200m Butterfly, along with a silver in the Women’s 400m Freestyle.
Josh Liendo also made waves with a silver medal in the Men’s 100m Butterfly.
Other Toronto swimmers who represented the city include Penny Oleksiak and Javier Avecedo.
Toronto track and field athletes Andre De Grasse, Aaron Brown, and Brendon Rodney were among the four players in the Men’s 4x100m Relay who won the gold medal at this year’s event.
Other notable track and field athletes from Toronto who put their best foot forward include Crystal Emmanuel-Ahye, Jazz Shukla, Lucia Stafford, and Zoe Sherar, all of whom proudly represented both their city and their country.
In women’s rugby, Asia Hogan-Rochester and Charity Williams were crucial members of the team that secured a silver medal.
The Beach Volleyball duo of Brandie Wilkerson and Melissa Humana-Paredes earned silver after a tough final against Brazil.
Meanwhile, beach volleyball players Sophie Bukovec and Daniel Dearing, as well as volleyball players Danny Demyanenko, Arthur Szwarc, and Xander Ketrzynski, tried their best but could not secure a medal this year.
Canadian National Rowing Team member Sydney Payne, who was part of the women’s right rowing team, also bagged a silver.
One of the youngest members of Team Canada, skateboarder Fay De Fazio Ebert, is also from Toronto, and represented the country at this year’s games.
Artistic gymnast Cassie Lee made her Olympic debut after being a consistent presence on the Canadian senior national team since 2021.
Some other athletes who could not win medals but were part of this year’s team include basketball players Dwight Powell, Melvin Ejim, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Sami Hill, artistic swimmer Scarlett Finn, soccer player Quinn, water polo athletes Marilia Mimides and Verica Bakoc, sailor Sarah Douglas, judoka Shady Elnahas, fencers Jessica Guo and Yunjia Zhang, and equestrian Michael Winter.
