If you were near Union Station, Jurassic Park or Scotiabank Arena (tonight or last night), chances are you caught a glimpse of a very unusual Raptors fan and maybe did a double-take.
A Dino superfan — part Raptors mascot, part sandwich artist — was spotted roaming the streets of downtown Toronto ahead of the Raptors’ home opener, hyping up crowds, snapping selfies with fans, and handing out gift cards.
The surprise appearance is all part of a wild, moment by Subway to celebrate its partnership with the Toronto Raptors and the National Basketball Association (NBA).
The Dino’s journey began just steps away from the arena. In the spirit of the night, the character: a Subway Sandwich Artist turned intense Raptors superfan, “left” his shift at a nearby Subway restaurant and set out to join the pre-game festivities.
Dressed in a playful nod to the team’s iconic dinosaur mascot, the Dino strutted through Union Station during the evening rush, stopping to engage with commuters, wave at fans in jerseys, and spread game-day hype.
As he made his way toward Jurassic Park, he handed out Subway gift cards to surprised fans gearing up for the game.
After working the crowd outside, the Dino wasn’t done. The character snagged a seat inside Scotiabank Arena to watch the Raptors tip off their season, giving fans one last surprise before the action started on the court.
The activation, staged on Friday, October 24, blended a mascot-style stunt with a major city moment (the Raptors’ home opener) showcasing that Subway Canada is leaning into big fan energy and celebrating the return of basketball season in true Toronto fashion.
This moment targeted Raptors supporters, basketball lovers, and culturally engaged Torontonians making their way to the home opener. The Dino’s appearance wasn’t just a photo op — it was a reminder of how game day in Toronto extends far beyond the arena walls.
From Union Station to Jurassic Park, fans laughed, filmed, and shared the moment as the Dino walked alongside them. And if you were lucky, you might’ve walked away with a Subway gift card, too.
So if you saw a dinosaur in a Subway uniform roaming downtown on Friday night, don’t worry, you weren’t imagining it. It was all part of a playful collaboration that turned Toronto’s streets into a pre-game party.
