A signal issue at Union Station is causing significant delays on GO Transit Monday morning.
A service alert on the GO Transit website reads, “The signal issue at Union Station is ongoing. Repair personnel are working on the issue, but there may be delays of up to two hours. There may be trip cancellations and modifications until the issue is fixed. To allow time for the repair personnel to work on the issue, trains will not be able to move through the area until the issue is resolved.”
GO Transit says trains will travel as long as possible and will hold at Union Station, but recommends travellers to take the TTC to Union Station.

In a statement to Now Toronto, a GO Transit spokesperson wrote, “We can confirm there was a disabled train west of Union Station this morning. Initial reports indicate that there are no injuries.”
“Repair personnel are working on the issue as quickly as possible, however there are significant delays throughout the network. If you are travelling into Union Station, please consider taking the TTC as an alternate option. UP Express service is currently suspended until further notice.”
Travellers stranded at Union Station are expressing their frustration, with one person named Kiara telling Now Toronto she’s been waiting for her 8:17 a.m. Lakeshore West train for over 30 minutes.
“It’s really bad. I’ve been here for half an hour and I’m going to be late for work. And this happens regularly.”
While another commuter, Fatima, did get to Union Station on time, her friend has been stuck on the Milton line for almost 50 minutes. She says the GO delay has disrupted the rest of her day.
“It doesn’t feel so good. I feel like my plans are off now, like, I was planning on doing other things afterwards.”
Currently, both of the 11:37 a.m. and 1:09 p.m. Allandale Waterfront trains have been cancelled with several other lines experiencing delays from 25 minutes to over an hour. Trains held at Union Station have been disabled for repairs.
