Hells Angels’ and Red Devils’ members facing charges after numerous drugs, firearms seized in police investigation

The results of an organized crime investigation, dubbed Project Coyote, were unveiled by Toronto police, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Belleville police Thursday afternoon.

The project revolved around the organized crime of motorcycle gangs Hells Angels and the Red Devils. Police say the two organizations have been identified as operating a drug and firearm trafficking network. 

Commander of the OPP’s Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Chief Superintendent Paul Mackey, shared the results of the 13-month joint investigation in a virtual conference on Thursday.

More than a dozen firearms were seized, including stolen and 3D printed weapons.

Illegal drugs including more than a kilogram of fentanyl, six kilos of methamphetamine, and 16 kilograms of cocaine were also recovered.

Police seized more than $370,000 stemming from the proceeds of crime, 10 vehicles and jewellry worth more than an estimated $150,000.

Miscellaneous Hells Angels items were also seized. 
“On Jan. 18, nine high risk warrants were executed in the GTA. Yesterday an additional 15 arrests were executed at 23 locations in Ontario,” Mackey said. “This included three members of the Hells Angels and three members of the Red Devils motorcycle club.”

Significant charges will be laid against the accused, including offences related to criminal organization, conspiracy, trafficking of controlled substances, trafficking of firearms, and possession of property obtained by crime, according to police.
