Former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s son, Xav Trudeau, has been announced as the headline performer for tonight’s Ottawa BlackJacks game.
The BlackJacks are set to tip off their seventh season in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) on Tuesday night against the Calgary Surge in Ottawa, and rising R&B artist Xav will be on hand to energize the crowd with several of his latest tracks during the halftime show.
Many fans may recognize Xav as the son of former Prime Minister Trudeau, but the 18-year-old officially launched his music career last year with the release of his debut single, “Til The Nights Done.”
Since then, he has continued to build momentum, releasing several additional singles along with his debut summer 2025 EP, When Does It End.
In a social media post shared ahead of the performance, Xav was joined by his father during soundcheck on the BlackJacks court, where Trudeau expressed his excitement about seeing his son perform.
“I’m just a proud dad at soundcheck,” Trudeau said.
Social media users were also quick to share their excitement for the highly anticipated appearance.
“Let’s go Xav,” one Instagram user wrote.
“Amazing,” another user commented.
Tuesday’s game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET.
