A Kitchener woman is calling out a Wingstop restaurant in a shocking social media post after allegedly finding human blood in her meal and on the packaging.

Emily Warren revealed the traumatic incident in a TikTok post on Sunday, which has now surpassed more than 100,000 views.

In an interview with Now Toronto, Warren says she and her boyfriend decided to make a stop at the Guelph location after running errands nearby, but it wasn’t until they got back home when they realized something was terribly wrong.

“As soon as we take the sticker off the bag and start unfolding the first roll, there’s already blood all over the inside, outside of the bag, inside of the bag,” she said.

Warren says the bloody situation didn’t stop there.

“As we start taking out the containers, it’s on the outside, then it’s on the inside, then it’s right by the food. So, it’s pretty much just everywhere,” she said.

Warren said there were already “red flags” leading up to the horrific moment, as she recalls seeing the employee in question with blood running down her hand from an open wound.

“She wasn’t oblivious to the fact that she was bleeding, and she kept wiping it with a paper towel,” she said.

The thought of eating the food without noticing the blood is “scary” for Warren and her partner who are both immunosuppressed.

“You have no idea what sort of diseases or pathogens this individual could be carrying. You have no way to know until it’s too late,” she said.

Warren says she immediately contacted the restaurant to report the incident.

Her TikTok video warned people of her experience, with users expressing their disbelief and helping her hold the restaurant accountable.

“This is disgusting and a health hazard,” one person commented.

“That is so unsafe,” another person said.

Many users have been urging Warren to file a lawsuit, but as of now she says that’s currently not where her focus is due to the hurdles that it may present, and instead she’s more focused on getting a refund.

In a statement to Now Toronto, Wingstop says it’s aware of the incident and is taking it very seriously.

“We’re aware of a poor guest experience at one of our Wingstop Canada locations and have launched a full internal investigation. As part of this, we’re reviewing our food handling protocols and team training procedures to understand exactly what happened,” the statement said.

For Warren, the experience has made her think deeply about being careful when eating out.

“I’m not trying to get anything out of this. I really just wanted to warn people… just be careful,” she said.
