Toronto is set to host one of the summer’s quirkiest events to date, with an official Labubu meet-up!
From fashion-forward figurines to playful trades, the Labubu craze has grown into a global movement, and now, it’s popping up in the heart of downtown.
Taking place on Saturday, Aug. 9 at Union Summer in Union Station, the event runs from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and invites fans to swap and show off their favourite Labubus, take photos with charming themed installations, and connect with fellow collectors.
Attendees can also expect live music from a junior dance party hosted by the Toronto DJ Academy, refreshing drinks, delicious bites, and a chance to win one of two Labubu dolls in a special giveaway.
Hosted as part of Union Summer presented by TD, the meet-up transforms the bustling Front Street plaza into a hub for collectors and creators.
The event is expected to draw both seasoned collectors and curious newcomers, offering a playful afternoon set against the backdrop of one of Toronto’s busiest summer patios.
In Toronto, there are Labubu’s sold in different places across the city, and there is also a cafe dedicated to the toy — Tobbi Cafe, where there is an assortment of different Labubus on display and for sale.
Labubu, a character from Pop Mart’s popular “The Monsters” series, has captured international attention this year, largely due to a surge in celebrity endorsements.
They range from $30 on Pop Mart’s website to more than $100 at other Canadian retailers.
Stars like Rihanna and members of BLACKPINK have been spotted carrying the quirky toy, helping launch it into the fashion and streetwear spotlight.
Since then, Labubu has become a must-have collectible, inspiring viral meet-ups, themed fashion shows, and community swap events from New York to Tokyo.
