A passionate group of Drake fans is planning a bold counter celebration right outside of Kendrick Lamar and SZA’ concerts in Toronto this week.
The group, known as @the6takeover on Instagram, is inviting Drizzy fans to join them in what they call an “OVO Takeover,” between 5:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. during the concert’s two-day run (June 12 and 13) at the Rogers Centre.
Drizzy fans can expect to hear some of Drake’s newest and oldest music at the takeover, and are encouraged to wear their best OVO gear, show off “signs repping the 6ix,” and bring nothing but good vibes.
“It’s basically gonna be like a Drake concert, like a great mosh pit in the streets of Toronto, but completely free. We want to make sure everybody has a good time. We want to make sure everybody’s safe,” a spokesperson for the OVO Takeover told Now Toronto on Wednesday.
The group says Drake fans attending the gathering can also expect to join a contest and snag a free slice of pizza, along with a free OVO hoody while supplies last.
The goal? To show Kendrick Lamar, and the world, who really runs Toronto – while paying homage.
“You’re not going to make some stuff up about somebody, especially somebody who represents our city, and you’re not going to get away with it, especially because Drake built his career,” the spokesperson said. “Drake puts the six on the map.”
The group cites Lamar’s disrespect toward the beloved Toronto rapper as one of the reasons behind the takeover, referencing the explosive feud between the two artists that took the rap world by storm last year.

“Kendrick Lamar has disrespected Drake in so many ways, and we’re not going to allow him to come to Toronto, and he’s acting like that on a public space here,” they added.
The feud between the two rappers began in 2024 after rapper J Cole suggested that he, Drake, and Kendrick were the “big three” of contemporary hip-hop. While J Cole removed himself from the feud, Drake and Lamar continued to exchange explosive diss tracks.

IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT THE BEEF
While the group expresses its discontent for what they call disrespect toward the Toronto rapper, its aim is to provide a safe, fun, and uplifting space for everyone attending.
“No hate, no drama – just pure Toronto energy, positive vibes, and a full-out celebration of the legend who BUILT the sound of this city,” according to @the6takeover’s Instagram post.
“We don’t want any violence towards any other Kendrick Lamar fans,” the spokesperson added.
Additionally, the group says it wants to give back to and unite the community over the concert’s two-day run, offering an invitation to local Toronto artists hoping to share their latest sounds with the city. The group says that if the artist simply sends a DM with “banging music,” it will add local sounds to its Drizzy-inspired playlist.
But more than anything, the group wants to put the beef aside to promote unity, extending the offer to those going to Lamar’s concert.
“We want to put all that negativity to the side, and we want to be able to stand up together and show the positive side of Toronto,” according to the spokesperson.“We’re just trying to make sure that everybody has a good time. We’re just trying to show that Toronto is united.”
Whether you’re team Drake or just want to experience Kendrick Lamar live, the 6 takeover group promises to bring its love for the city to the Roger Centre’s concert doors.
