Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded to the viral video of his showdown with a young man regarding abortion rights.

In mid-April, Trudeau was seen in a video going head-to-head with a “pro-life” member of the public while visiting the University of Manitoba.

During this back and forth exchange, the Canadian leader made it clear as day where the country stands on abortion rights for women.

To make things extra crystal clear, Trudeau took to social media this weekend, nearly two weeks since the video was widely shared, and spoke out about it.

In it, he said he wanted to “take a moment right now to emphasize that our government will always stand up and take action to protect access to reproductive health services.”

“With attacks on reproductive rights around the world, it’s really important that we not take things for granted; that we continue to stand up unequivocally,” he added.

“Let me be very clear. This government will never tell a woman what to do with her body.”

Many Canadians championed his remarks, while others called him out in relation to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

“Thank you for affirming you and your government’s commitment to abortion access and rights. It’s important now more than ever,” one Instagram user commented.

“You told millions of Canadians what to do with their bodies last year and apparently can’t define the word woman so it’s a little hard to take you seriously here,” one Twitter user wrote

Last month, Trudeau launched a YouTube channel and said it was an opportunity to share “some of the things that we’re (the government) doing and hear about why we’re doing them.”
