Patio season is upon us, Toronto! With sunny conditions and warmer conditions in the forecast, there are tons of places you can enjoy a drink and a snack al fresco in the city this summer. 

The prime time to enjoy a patio in the city has arrived, with warmer weather and sunny skies finally settling into the city, giving bars and restaurants the all-clear to throw open their rooftop terraces and sidewalk patios just in time for summer. From King West hotspots serving skyline cocktails and late-night DJ sets to Mediterranean-inspired patios on Ossington and rooftop escapes downtown, there’s no shortage of places to grab a drink, share a bite, and soak up the sunshine over the coming weeks.

Public Gardens

A green oasis within the concrete jungle, Public Gardens is a great escape for anyone looking for a sip or a snack outdoors. This King West favourite has a gorgeous rooftop patio and a select offering of Italian-inspired appetizers, mains, desserts, and cocktails. 

Attendees can look forward to watching the game, catching up with friends over craft cocktails, or sticking around until after dark for night DJ sets. Plus, for those who love to indulge in an espresso martini, the bar also offers a wide selection of different flavours, from raspberry to chocolate coconut and Amalfi orange.

Ruby Soho

Another King West favourite, Ruby Soho’s patio is officially open for the summer season and already drawing crowds for sunny afternoon drinks and lively late nights. Known for its vibrant atmosphere and stylish outdoor space, it’s a go-to destination for everything from casual weekend brunches to after-work cocktails and late-night bites.

The bar offers curated menus throughout the day, including brunch, happy hour specials, dinner, and late-night cocktails, making it an easy choice no matter when you plan on stopping by. Whether you’re meeting friends for patio drinks or settling in for a full meal, there’s something on the menu for everyone.

Another hotspot in the popular King West neighbourhood, Baro has a sweet rooftop patio that pairs skyline views with a seasonal menu chock-full of summertime cocktails and BBQ items cooked over a parrilla-style charcoal grill.

The menu features fun shareable items like the Big Ass Board, a charcuterie-style offering, while guests can also take advantage of happy hour specials featuring discounted bites, refreshing cocktails, wine, and beer, making the rooftop an especially popular stop for after-work drinks, weekend gatherings, and summer celebrations.

PIANO PIANO

Popular with fans of happy hour, PIANO PIANO is opening its patios for summer, giving you the perfect spot to grab a dinner with friends or relax after work downtown or at one of their other GTHA locations

The bar’s seasonal happy hour menu is packed with fresh flavours just in time for summer. This includes a watermelon mint salad, mushroom cavatelli with porcini cream and black truffle butter, The “Fun Guy” mushroom pizza, and an Amalfi Spritz with limoncello, prosecco, and soda water. 

With locations downtown Toronto, Hamilton and Oakville, this chain of Italian spots also has popular brunch and lunch menus with pasta, pizza, and more. 

Evangeline

Address: 51 Camden St., Toronto

Ace Hotel’s year-round rooftop bar Evangeline is a great place for patio-seekers to kick back with a drink and a rooftop view of the city. The outdoor portion of this rooftop bar is now open, with cocktails, small bites, skyline city views and late-night revelry on the menu.

Evangeline operates on a two-hour seating schedule, with tables available on a first-come, first-served basis for singles and smaller groups. Meanwhile, group reservations are available for parties of eight or more. Head’s up, this bar is cashless.

Harriet’s Rooftop

Address: 550 Wellington St. W., Toronto

Located on top of 1 Hotel, Harriet’s Rooftop is a popular rooftop spot with gorgeous city views complemented by a menu of delicious drinks and snacks. 

What makes this menu stand out is the wide variety of seafood options. There are also a few chicken, beef and vegetarian options for those who are not looking for shellfish, salmon or snapper. 

Harriet’s also has a rooftop pool, so if you can swim and you’re looking for a way to cool off and stay fresh, this may be the spot.

Soluna

This rooftop patio is known for its Mediterranean vibes, vibrant tapas, signature cocktails, and frequent dance parties. 

Officially opening for the season on May 31, Soluna’s rooftop patio is popular for its Greek-inspired menu, filled with unique cocktails and fresh bites perfect for those hot summer days and nights.

The venue also hosts weekly parties, including Wednesday Latin Nights, Among Friends on Thursdays, and Dinner Party on Fridays and Saturdays.

Storm Crow Manor

Storm Crow Manor is a beautiful patio in The Village, giving both those enjoying daytime vibes a place to grab a drink while shopping, or those taking in the nightlife a chance to get in the mood to go dancing.
