REVISITING FERGUSON 

BlackLivesMatterTO organizers Tarisai Ngangura and Alyssa Williams will report on the realities of police brutality at 7 pm at OISE. A screening of Rebel Films’ works shed light on the police killing of Michael Brown in 2014 and the protests that have ensued as a result of racial profiling across North America. FOR THE BOYS: THE GENTLEMAN’S EXPO 

Amidst all of the weekends that target women, from wedding expos to interior decorating conventions, the MTCC is celebrating the modern man gaming, food, cars and even a performance by DMC is lined up at The Gentleman’s Expo. Tickets start at $30, and can be purchased online here.

STROMAE TAKES OVER ECHO BEACH

FINDING YOUR FUTURE AT THE UNIVERSITY FAIR

Ontario’s 21 universities will dominate the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this weekend, offering prospecting students the chance to discover where they’d like to pursue their futures at this free event. Students and their families can talk to various university representatives, get information booklets on their desired schools, and learn more about the opportunities available to them from 10 am – 5 pm both Saturday and Sunday. PUTTING YOUR BEST SOUP FORWARD

On Sunday, let top chefs help you warm up to fall with Soupalicious, an event that helps fund the national project to encourage farmers to share more of their harvest by adding an extra row to their crops, Plant A Row • Grow A Row. From 12 – 3 pm, sample on the best soups from talented local chefs’ kitchens, and learn a thing or two about kickstarting your own garden. Tickets range from $8 to $22, or $5 to $15 if you book ahead. Get your taste palettes ready here

WORD ON THE STREET IS… 

Come celebrate the written word at The Word On The Street from 11 am – 6 pm. The annual event that that features all things literary is happening at Harbourfront for the first time, and features readings and author talks, a marketplace, and events for kids. Come visit NOW at our booth!

THE MUNK DEBATE ON CANADA’S FOREIGN POLICY  

The Munk Debates’ first-ever federal election debate at the Roy Thompson Hall, with Stephen Harper, Thomas Mulcair and Justin Trudeau, who will discuss their plans for Canada’s future. Tickets are $30 to $95. Learn more about the debates here
