
Toronto, the Thanksgiving long weekend is days away, and several stores and services will be closed for the holiday.
While there are plenty of fun and open places to explore throughout the city over the festive holiday, some businesses will be closed or operating on reduced hours.
Whether you are hoping to grab a few last-minute ingredients for your Thanksgiving feast or make a stop at your favourite shop, it is best to check ahead before heading out.
Here is a breakdown of what is open, closed, and operating on reduced hours on Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 13 in Toronto.
Transit
- The TTC will operate on a holiday service schedule, and will start earlier at approximately 6 a.m.
- GO Transit service will run on a Saturday schedule.
Government Services and Other
- Banks, Government, and post offices will be closed.
- Toronto Public library branches will be closed on both Sunday, Oct. 12 and Monday, Oct. 13. Note: you can return books and other materials while the library is closed, but they will not be cleared from your account immediately.
- Select Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall locations will be open. Note: check your local location for operating hours.
Malls
Open:
- Eaton Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Pacific Mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- CF Markville Mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Square One Shopping Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Toronto Premium Outlets will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Vaughan Mills will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Promenade Shopping Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Hillcrest Mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Closed:
- Fairview Mall
- Dufferin Mall
- Sherway Gardens.
- Scarborough Town Centre
- Yorkdale Mall
- Shops at Don Mills
Attractions
Open:
- The Royal Ontario Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- Aga Khan Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- The Art Gallery of Ontario is open from10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The CN Tower is open from 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Ripley’s Aquarium is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Casa Loma is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- The Toronto Zoo is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Movie theatres will also be open with varying hours and showtimes. Be sure to check your local listings.
Closed:
Grocery, Restaurants, and Alcohol
Many grocery stores and restaurants will be closed, but certain locations will remain open on the statutory holiday. Note: be sure to check with restaurants in advance!
Open:
- Select Eataly locations— at Yorkville, Sherway Gardens, and Don Mills.
- Select Farm Boy locations — at 777 Bay St., 81 St. Clair Ave. E., 100 Queens Quay Unit No. 200, and 207 Queens Quay will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Metro — at 444 Yonge St. will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Loblaws — at 60 Carlton St. will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Select T&T Supermarket locations — at Fairview Mall, and 297 College St. will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Whole Foods — at 87 Avenue Rd. will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Rabba — at various locations will be open 24 hours.
- Select Wine Rack locations.
Closed:
All Beer Store and LCBO locations will be closed.
