Toronto residents are unimpressed with a spring snowfall as they woke up to snow on the ground.

Environment Canada is forecasting local snowfall totaling between two to four centimeters today, accompanied by blowing snow that may significantly reduce visibility — especially during residents’ morning commute.

The snowfall is the result of a lake effect off Georgian Bay.

While accumulation is expected to be minimal, untreated roads and sidewalks could become slippery. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to use caution, as surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots can become icy.

The City of Toronto took to social media to inform residents that city crews and salters were activated and went out at 5:30 a.m., and for drivers to drive with caution and watch out for salt trucks during their commute.
