Priced out of Toronto’s real-estate market? Markham might be your way in!
Featuring plenty of transit access, entertainment options, awarded restaurants, and work and study opportunities, it is no wonder Toronto holds one of the hottest real estate markets in the country. But these conveniences come at a price, as it can be pretty pricey to get a home in the city.
However, there are plenty of options around for those who want to have convenience and be close to the city without breaking the bank.
According to King Realty Co.’s agent Claudia Cornaire, that’s exactly what makes Markham an attractive city for young families and first-time homebuyers.
“Markham is still considered more affordable than Toronto, and it’s incredibly well connected, so it’s close to Highway 407 [and] you have to GO Transit access that takes you right to downtown Toronto, so you’re paying less, but you’re not disconnected,” she told Now Toronto.
The city offers convenient access to local shops, restaurants, private and public schools, and more, while still keeping prices affordable, which is especially important for buyers trying to get into the market for the first time.
“Right now, under $500K in Markham, it’s mostly condos…So it is perfect for first-time homebuyers, or people that are just starting out their families.”
For those who are planning to dive into the Markham market, we’ve rounded up five properties under $500,000 to get you started.
