Want to celebrate Pride without spending money? Here are 9 free Toronto events to check out this month

From a 2-Spirit Powwow and a roller drag ball to a candlelight vigil and a Pride prom, these free events offer plenty of ways to celebrate Pride Month across Toronto without breaking the bank.

Toronto knows how to throw a Pride party, but your bank account doesn’t have to suffer to join in. From parties to educational opportunities, there are plenty of free ways to celebrate Pride Month across the city this June.

Pride Month in Toronto is an exciting time, but celebrating anything in the city right now feels a little… well, expensive. While Toronto’s Pride Festival weekend, running June 25-28, is completely free, other free-to-attend events are happening throughout the city this month, and you won’t want to miss them.

From the 2-Spirit Powwow to Rainbow Seniors and Newcomers’ Pride, Queer & Now has rounded up nine free Pride events happening throughout Toronto this June.

2-Spirit Powwow

When: Saturday, June 6, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Milliken District Park, Scarborough

The fifth annual 2-Spirit Powwow is set for this weekend in Scarborough, centring and celebrating Two-Spirit Indigenous people, while welcoming the broader community to gather through dance, drumming, ceremony, culture, and connection. 

Presented by 2-Spirited People of the 1st Nations and hosted by Gordon Sands, this year’s venue has lots of shaded areas, a splash pad, and three large gazebos with picnic tables. Attendees are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles and lawn chairs.

Organizers will be running shuttle buses to the powwow from both their downtown Toronto and our Danforth offices. Entry is free, but vendors will be selling goods on site. This celebration is going ahead rain or shine. This powwow is drug and alcohol-free.

Pride at the Garden

When: Sunday, June 7, 12 to 4 p.m.

Where: Toronto Botanical Garden

If you’re looking for a green, serene way to celebrate Pride, check out the Toronto Botanical Garden’s party. Promising relaxing vibes and good energy, this afternoon celebration blends live music, nature, and community in a beautiful garden setting, perfect for unwinding – or updating your IG – depending on your vibe.

Pride at the Garden attendees can bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs, settle in and look forward to a curated lineup of 2SLGBTQ+ artists while connecting with friends and chosen family in a welcoming space. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at Dandelion Café, while drop-in activities and crafting sessions will also run throughout the event.

The garden party also features a plant swap, where you can bring plants, cuttings, and seeds to trade. 

The ArQuives Open House

When: Saturday, June 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Learn more about Queer History in Canada and beyond at the ArQuives Open House event. Founded in 1973 as the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives, the space is Canada’s largest independent 2SLGBTQIA+ archives, housing everything from 

Open house attendees can learn more through guided tours, opportunities to meet the curator behind their latest exhibition, browse a special duplicate poster and book sale, and participate in activities focused on preserving queer and trans histories through community archiving.

Rainbow Seniors Pride

When: Saturday, June 13, 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Where: Rekai Centre, 160 Wellesley St. E., Toronto

Celebrating the elders that paved the way for the contemporary Pride celebrations we have today, the Rekai Centre is hosting Rainbow Seniors Pride. Organizers say the event celebrates the courage of elder 2SLGBTQ+ community members while recognizing those who have helped shape more inclusive and affirming care.

Centred on Pride Toronto’s 2026 theme, “We Won’t Stop,” the celebration will bring together generations of Queer Torontonians to celebrate and honour the wisdom, resilience, and joy of older 2SLGBTQI+ seniors, whose strength and advocacy continue to inspire progress and belonging within our communities.

Roller Drag Ball

When: Wednesday, June 17, 4-9 p.m.

Where: College Park

Don your rollerblades (or rollerskates) and take part in the Roller Drag Ball, returning to College Park for another year. Blending exercise with Queer joy, this year’s ball promises to be bigger, louder, and bolder than ever! 

Free skate rentals are available on site, while attendees, on wheels or otherwise, can dance their hearts out or roll to the rhythm to DJ sets. The Roller Drag Ball wouldn’t be complete without, well, drag! Drag on Wheels is the centrepiece of the evening, bringing attendees fierce, high-energy drag performances on wheels.

Elevate the Rainbow

When: Sunday, June 18, 3-7 p.m.

Where: 31 Trinity Square, Distillery Historic District

This event is focused on supporting and highlighting the services and businesses dedicated to Queer communities 365 days a year. Billed as a community-focused small business event, Elevate the Rainbow will bring together 2SLGBTQIA+ community members, entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations for a day of connection, discovery, and celebration. 

The event features a Pride pop-up market with vendors selling various products, while representatives from inclusive programs and initiatives that support and uplift the queer community will also be on site providing information on their services.

Newcomers Pride

When: Sunday, Jun 21 · 1:30-5:00 p.m. 

Where: Earlscourt Park, Lansdowne Ave, Toronto, ON M6H 3Z8

A country globally recognized for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights, Canada is home to many Queer people coming from places where they have faced persecution based on their sexuality and gender identity. Honouring this community, Newcomers Pride is an annual event focused on resilience, solidarity, and joy that honours the strength it takes to start over, and the power of community. 

The event features a rundown of live performances from artists like Ataega, DJ Pogi, Brandyn Leo, Georgina Hudson, Meldon McCollin, and Takeyce.

AIDS Candlelight Vigil

When: Tuesday, June 23, 9 p.m.

The 42nd annual AIDS Candlelight Vigil is returning to Toronto on June 23. Home of the Toronto AIDS Memorial, the vigil is held at Barbara Hall Park.

The vigil is an annual community gathering to remember and honour those lost to AIDS, support people living with HIV, and recognize the ongoing impact of the epidemic on Toronto’s communities. New names are traditionally added to the memorial ahead of the event. 

Supporting Our Youth Pride Prom

When: Tuesday, June 23, 6:30-10 p.m.

Where: Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, 12 Alexander St.

Community members 21 and under can experience prom in an inclusive, supportive environment at the Supporting Our Youth Pride Prom, hosted by Sherbourne Health. Featuring DJ sets, live performances, a photobooth and prizes for best-dressed, the prom runs on a drop-in basis, so no registration is required.

This year’s theme is Electric Garden, inviting young 2SLGBTQ+ people to put on their finest, fanciest fits and step into a world where neon blooms, Queer joy, every young person shines exactly as they are. 

The dress code for this year is “Glow,” so whether that’s a neon fit, goth glamour, Queer main character energy or something completely different, whatever makes you feel the most unapologetically yourself is what you should be wearing.
