Fans were “Shook” during a recent Shawn Desman concert in London. Ont. when the singer was forced to break up a fight mid-song.
On Feb. 29, the 42-year-old singer performed at London Music Hall for his Shawn Desman Live tour. During the show, a fight broke out unexpectedly between some members of the audience.
According to Desman’s publicist Jess Seguire, the singer saw two people in the crowd getting into each other’s faces and shoving each other, so he called it out to ensure his show remained a safe space for all.
“My shows are meant to be a happy place – a place full of love and good vibes, and there’s no room for that type of behaviour. Especially when there’s kids in the room, we have to make sure it’s a safe and fun environment for everyone,” the singer said in a statement.
Some fans say the father of three went into “dad mode” as soon as he noticed the commotion and handled the situation with class.
“You don’t need security when you got ‘dad mode’ Shawn Desman,” Run the Burbs star Andrew Phung commented under Desman’s Instagram post.
“I was there. He handled it QUICK. He had no tolerance for that. There were young children there from about 6yo. They didn’t need to see that. Amazing performer. Truly knows how to get a crowd pumped & engaged! All around class act, a Canadian treasure,” another user said.
“I was there, it was intense! Way to have crowd control @shawndesman. The show was amazing,” another user commented.
Now Toronto reached out to London Music Hall for comment but did not receive a response in time of publication.
Desman’s next show is on May 23 at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, British Columbia.
