Canadian comic Veronika Slowikowska could make her Saturday Night Live debut as the iconic sketch show kicks off its 51st season this Saturday.

The Barrie, Ont. native is one of five new cast members joining SNL this season, and the only Canadian in the lineup.

Known for her sharp, hilarious sketches on social media, online, Slowikowska has built a following of more than a million people — and her move to Studio 8H marks a major leap from social media to live television.

This Saturday’s show will be hosted by Puerto Rican artist, Bad Bunny, who closed last season as a musical guest, and is making history as the first person to appear in consecutive season finales and premieres.

Doja Cat will also feature as the episode’s musical guest.

Ahead of the premiere, Slowikowska made a cameo in this week’s SNL promo.

In the video, host Bad Bunny jokes around with the cast — telling returning member Jane Wickline he’s borrowing her toothbrush, teasing his “Bad Bunny Is Shrek” collaborator Ben Marshall with a playful headlock, and asking if his friends can crash at Slowikowska’s place for the week.

While new featured actors  aren’t always guaranteed airtime in their first episode, the season premiere is one of the most-watched nights of the year, giving Slowikowska a chance to make an appearance.

She joins fellow newcomers Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson and Ben Marshall as the show reshapes its roster following several cast departures, including Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, and Emil Wakim.
