February appears to be shaping up to be quite the month for foodies.
The inaugural National Seafood Chowder Chowdown is running all month and local restaurants are offering special takeout meals for Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day.
In addition to all of those, Quebec’s gift to Canadian cuisine (and late-night snackers) will be celebrated in the first week of February.
The delivery edition of La Poutine Week will be held across in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Alberta, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. It runs February 1-7 and over 700 eateries are participating in this year’s festival.
Due to pandemic restrictions that have forced restaurants to switch to takeout and delivery, the event is partnering with Skip The Dishes to provide week-long delivery.
In Toronto, 12 restaurants are participating this year.
Creative options include MB The Place To Be’s Poutine ng Ina Ko, which is piles sisig pork or chicken on deep-fried fries; Dzo Viet Eatery’s Photine, inspired by the Vietnamese soup staple; and West Coast Sandwiches’ Shrimp Poutine.
And if you love French fries and you love pizza, Ace’s Pizza is doing a “together at last” combo: Poutine Pizza.
