Air Canada says a technical glitch that was adding old boarding passes to customers’ apps has now been fixed.

App users reported seeing boarding passes for old flights and in some cases for journeys that did not exist.

“I woke up this morning to the Air Canada app showing a flight leaving in 10 minutes to Munich Germany,” one customer shared on the r/aircanda subreddit.

In an email statement on Tuesday, the airline told Now Toronto that the bug, which affected Android users, had been fixed and that customers should update their app to rectify the issue.

It also assured that the error did not cause problems for legitimate boarding pass holders and that the expired ones would not have made it through security checks.

“No customer would have been able to clear security or board a flight with one of those boarding passes,” the statement said.

Some customers claimed to have tens of passes appear on their app.

“I’ve got 60 boarding passes. We’re going flying today, baby,” one Reddit user wrote.

Others reported errors related to upgrade options and rewards points.

“My app says my upgrades expire in 1969! I definitely wouldn’t have let them expire but unfortunately I wasn’t born yet,” one person said.

“They’re having some serious issues with the app. I have 60 boarding passes all for today and haven’t been able to see my Status Qualifying Miles, Status Qualifying Segments or Status Qualifying Dollars for weeks,” another customer responded.

Air Canada is strongly encouraging those experiencing the glitch re-download the app.
