There’s a mysterious fireworks show going down over the water in Toronto this evening, and on the eve of his latest album release, Drake fans are in detective mode.

City officials shared that the display is permitted as part of a private video shoot and has been coordinated in accordance with applicable City of Toronto requirements.

“Residents in the surrounding area should expect brief loud noises and bright flashes of light during the fireworks display,” City of Toronto Director of Communications, Russell Baker, said in a statement.

“We recommend keeping pets indoors and notifying household members who may be sensitive to noise or light,” Baker continued.

“The display will be brief, and we thank the public for their understanding.”

Fireworks just before Drake’s Iceman drop

While it’s unclear from the city’s statement just who will be shooting on the waterfront, the display is coming less than two hours before Drake is set to drop his latest album, Iceman.

The Toronto-born rapper has been the focus of many fans of the genre in the past few weeks. His ice block stunt, which included the creation of a 15-by-20-foot ice structure that was constructed in a parking lot near Bond St, saw fans in Toronto go wild with curiosity over his next project.

Fans have also speculated that the rapper has recently been filming visual elements for the upcoming album at the CN Tower.

Meanwhile, last night and into this morning, some fans took to social media to share what may have been leaked tracks from the album, with the tracks causing controversy over what some people believe are shots at fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar, and NBA All-Star Lebron James.
