The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating reports of a razor blade found in a child’s Halloween candy in a small Northern Ontario town.

The incident occurred in Cochrane, a town nearly eight hours north of Toronto. The OPP say the razor blade was located in a mini chocolate bar on Thursday night.

The small town has a population of around 5,400 residents. It’s noted that the child visited homes from Victoria Ave. to 12th Ave. on Halloween night, but at this time, it’s currently unknown as to where the chocolate bar originated, OPP says.

“We urge all parents and guardians to carefully inspect your child’s Halloween candy for any signs of tampering,” the police service posted on X.

Ontario residents are reacting to the horrifying act.

“Disgusting,” one user said on X.

“Why do people do this? What goes through their mind? The spirit of Halloween has seriously been lost for years,” another user wrote on the platform.
