Another week is here, and the weather forecast is looking hot and humid in Toronto.
It’s the last week of July, and things are shaping up to be hot, hot, hot! With daily highs in the high 20s and lows in the high teens, it’s already going to be a warm week ahead of Toronto Carnival weekend, and the humidity is turning things up a notch. Here’s what you need to know.
Kicking off the week, Environment Canada reports that Monday’s weather is set to be sunny for the majority of the morning, before becoming cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of rain and potential for a thunderstorm in the afternoon. The daily high is 29 C, feeling more like 36 C with the humidity and a UV index of 8, or very high.
Temperatures fall to 15 C overnight with cloudy conditions, a 70 per cent chance of showers and the risk of a thunderstorm.
Meanwhile, while wildfire season continues to see blazes burning throughout the province, and the sky may look hazy, Air Quality Ontario reports that as of 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Downtown Toronto’s Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) currently sits at a level 3, which is considered low risk. East Toronto’s AQHI also measured at a 3 this morning, while West and North Toronto’s AQHI was at level 2.
With the AQHI, at-risk populations are encouraged to enjoy their usual outdoor activities, while the provincial entity reports that for the general population, this is ideal air quality for outdoor activities.
North, East, West and Downtown Toronto are all expected to move to a level 4 AQHI today, considered moderate risk, before moving back down to a level 3 on Tuesday.
Toronto work week forecast: July 27 – 31
The rest of the week is also going to see high temperatures with lots of rain in the forecast.
Tuesday is set to see mainly cloudy conditions, with a 60 per cent chance of showers and the risk of a thunderstorm. The daily high is expected to be 25 C, feeling more like 28 C with the humidity, and a UV index of 6. Cloudy conditions for tomorrow night with a low of 17 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers.
Another cloudy day on Wednesday with a high of 26 C and a 30 per cent chance of showers.
Sunshine is in the forecast on Thursday with a high of 28 and a low of 17. Sunny again on Friday with a high of 29 C, and a low of 18 C.
