While Millennials are more likely to be satisfied with their romantic or sex lives, Boomers tend to feel more loved, according to a global survey released ahead of Valentine’s Day.
The survey conducted by Ipsos focused on love life satisfaction across 32 countries, including Canada.
On average, 84 per cent of people who are with a partner say they are satisfied with their relationship, though only 63 per cent of adults are satisfied with their sex or romantic life.
FEELING LOVED?
Seventy-six per cent say they are very or somewhat satisfied with how much they feel loved, and 21 per cent are not.
Feeling loved is more common among Boomers at 80 per cent, than it is among Gen Xers at 75 per cent, and Millennials and Gen Zers, both at 76 per cent.
Those who are married or in a committed relationship are also more likely to feel loved than those who are single at 83 per cent versus 70 per cent, respectively.
SATISFIED SEXUALLY?
Among all adults, a global average of 63 per cent say they are satisfied with their romantic or sex lives, while 30 per cent said they are not.
Millennials are most likely to be satisfied with their romantic or sex life at 68 per cent, compared to Gen Xers at 62 per cent, Gen Zers at 59 per cent and Boomers at 61 per cent.
Married or partnered adults are also more likely than single adults to be satisfied with their sex life at 75 per cent versus 54 per cent, respectively.
Notably, at a global level, there is no significant difference in how satisfied men and women are with their love life. Men and women are nearly equally likely to be satisfied with their spouse or partner if they have one.
The findings are from Ipsos’s Global Advisor online survey conducted between Dec. 22, 2022 and Jan. 6, 2023. More than 22,500 adults were polled in the United States, Canada, Malaysia, South Africa, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore, among others.
