From classic films to rom-coms, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is bringing free outdoor movies with 10 p.m. screenings to Cinema Park at David Pecaut Square for the duration of the festival.

Madagascar
- When: 10 p.m., Sept. 12
If you’re looking for a nostalgic evening, you need to “move it, move it” to David Pecaut Square for a free screening of Madagascar. If you don’t remember what it’s about, this computer-animated movie from 2005 follows four zoo animals from New York who’ve found themselves stranded in the jungles of Madagascar and must learn how to adapt to the wild.
Now You See Me
- When: 10 p.m., Sept. 13
If you think you’re sneaky, see just how sneaky the characters are in the movie Now You See Me. This film, directed by Jesse Eisenberg, who’s also the director of this year’s The Debut, follows a team of illusionists who conduct bank heists during their shows. Follow along as their operation hits some hurdles when an FBI agent and an Interpol detective start to catch on to the act.
Strangers on a Train
- When: 10 p.m., Sept. 14
Remember when your parents told you not to speak to strangers; this movie might reinforce their fear. Strangers on a Train, based on a novel by Patricia Highsmith and the subject of this year’s A Talent for Murder, is Alfred Hitchcock’s black-and-white film about a psychopath who tries to coerce a tennis star into committing the perfect crime. Check out what happens next in this thrilling classic at the free screening.
Freaky Friday

If you ever wondered what a day in the life of a parent is like, check out Freaky Friday, a movie where a rebellious teenager and her mother unexpectedly swap bodies. The movie also alludes to “Friday the 13th,” a day which many feel is superstitious. Whether it’s your first watch or a nostalgic viewing of the 1976 movie, check out TIFF’s free evening screening.
Hoosiers
- When: 10 p.m., Sept. 16
Who doesn’t love a cute movie based on a true story? Check out Hoosiers, a sports drama celebrating its 40th anniversary. The movie follows a coach who’s seeking redemption for his troubled past when he is hired to coach a small-town Indiana high school basketball team. The movie mirrors the famous 1954 state championship win by the Milan (Indiana) High School basketball team.
Spy Kids
- When: 10 p.m., Sept. 17
Take a trip back to your childhood by attending the free screening of Spy Kids. The cult classic is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, with a film packed with action and drama. The movie will be in English and Spanish.
Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory

Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory brings back nostalgia with the whimsical children’s book, exploring four children’s adventures after winning a tour of a mysterious chocolate factory after receiving a gold ticket — but it turns out not all gold is good.
The Great Muppet Caper
