Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher is apologizing after receiving online backlash for posting an anti-Asian slur, but some fans aren’t having it.

Fans were quick to call Gallagher out for the word. Responding to his now-deleted post on X that contained the word, one follower wrote: “Liam you can’t say that.” He replied: “Why.” Another told him he was “gonna get cancelled” over the tweet. He commented: “Whatever.”
Shortly after, Gallagher backtracked, issuing an apology on his account and stressing that he does not discriminate against anyone.
“Sorry if I offended anyone with my tweet before it wasn’t intentional you know I love you all and I do not discriminate. peace and love LG x,” he wrote on the platform.

But his apology comes a little too late for some fans, many who are expressing their disappointment at the singer for carelessly dropping such a sensitive word.
“So he first defends it, doubles down, then deletes and “apologizes” – doesn’t get less sincere,” one person said on Reddit.
Another fan who claims to be from Singapore said they were excited to see the band in London for the first time ever, but is now feeling a bit regretful about getting tickets.
“Heartbreaking to say the least,” they commented.
Another Redditor who says they are ofAsian descent also has tickets to a London show and says they’re “rather conflicted now.”
“I’m not offended but this is still quite an unpleasant thing to witness,” they said.
His July 1 post joins a slew of one or two-word nonsensical posts over the last few months. It also came just three days before Oasis is set to kick off their 2025 world tour. On Friday, they’ll take the stage in Cardiff, Wales for their first of multiple shows in the U.K. before heading across the pond to Canada.
Oasis will also headline back-to-back shows at Toronto’s Rogers Stadium on August 24 and 25.
