Toronto winter storm prompts Pearson Airport to cancel two-thirds of flights

Flying out of Toronto today? Be sure to check your flight status as more than half of flights departing Pearson Airport and Billy Bishop airport have been cancelled or are delayed. 

According to Pearson’s website, approximately 70 per cent of flights departing the airport throughout Sunday have been cancelled as of 11:30 a.m. Out of 302 total flights, 12 are delayed. 

At BIlly Bishop Airport, just over half of remaining flights departing today have been cancelled.

Environment Canada has upgraded the storm warning from Yellow to Orange as 40 centimetres of snow now forecasted to hit Toronto. Visibility is also significantly reduced — including the possibility of near-zero visibility at times — with wind speeds reaching 50 kilometres per hour.
