R&B singer Kehlani is giving one Toronto restaurant its flowers, saying it may have the best Vietnamese food she’s ever had.
Toronto was alive this past weekend, with tons going on in and around the city, including the VELD festival and the city’s Caribbean Carnival. Part of the festivities also included a performance from superstar Kehlani, who took over Cabana Pool Bar for a special show on Sunday.
During their trip to Toronto, the star visited Pho Ngoc Yen, a Vietnamese spot on Adelaide St, and made a TikTok to show how much their group enjoyed the food.
“This might be the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had in my life,” the singer says, showing the meat in their friend’s soup literally falling off the bone.
“My back is big, my heart is full. Thank you,” the star says with a smile at the end of the clip.
The Adelaide restaurant is one of three Pho Ngoc Yen locations in the GTA, with restaurants also in Etobicoke and Mississauga. The chain has received accolades for its excellence in the past, including Canadian Choice Awards in 2024 and 2025, and being named among Yelp’s top 100 restaurants from 2018 to 2024.
Pho Ngoc Yen’s menu is inspired by southern Vietnam, with its executive chef, Tri Tran, growing up in Can Tho, Vietnam’s Mekong Delta region, before spending more than 25 years working as a chef in the GTA.
Online, some people agree with the singer, sharing their love for the restaurant.
“Pho Ngọc Yen is one of my fav places! So glad you got to enjoyyyy,” one TikToker said.
“Can RECOMMEND with MY ENTIRE SOUL THIS PLACE IS THE PLACE TO GO!!!!!! 🙌❤️❤️ also location in Mississauga,” another person said.
“This is my spot !!!!!!!! I was just there yesterday.”
While others are trying to gatekeep the spot.
“Yo, keep this joint on the DL. Don’t want ppl blowing up my favourite spot,” one person joked on Instagram.
“KEHLANI NO I WAS TRYNA GATEKEEP THIS SPOT,” a TikTok user commented.
