Looking back on 2024: Here’s Now Toronto’s top interviews

Canadian drag star Brooke Lynn Hytes and Raptors superfan Nav Bhatia were some of the incredible guests Now Toronto interviewed in 2024.

The year has come and gone but 2024 was a year for the books with amazing guests that Now Toronto had the opportunity to chat with. 

From talented singers to Toronto’s first-ever Youth Poet Laureate, we were able to spotlight various stories from cultural icons, community leaders and up-and-coming stars throughout the past year.  

In celebration of all the wonderful guests we were able to interview, we rounded up some of our favourites from the past year. 

Nav Bhatia

Raptors Superfan Nav Bhatia sat down with Now Toronto back in February to discuss his new memoir and his journey to becoming the basketball team’s biggest cheerleader. Bhatia revealed that he’s attended more than 1,400 games and spent over six figures on tickets since the team was formed in 1995.

Brooke Lynn Hytes

Canadian drag icon Brooke Lynn Hytes graced Now Toronto’s studio during Pride Month to discuss her career and the importance of Pride. The host of Canada’s Drag Race said drag is a form of protest that challenges gender and social norms. She also explained her work as a campaign ambassador for Freddie, a Canadian health-care service for 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

Former Degrassi star Lauren Collins chatted with Now Toronto about her new show on Crave, “My Dead Mom.” Collins is the main character in the dark comedy which follows a successful Jewish lawyer who’s grappling with her mother’s death and receiving visits from her mom’s ghost. Collins shared she has a personal connection to the show because of losing her own father.

Toronto’s first-ever Youth Poet Laureate Shahaddah Jack Jack spoke with Now Toronto about her impressive new title where she serves as an ambassador for young people throughout the city. In this role, the 20-year-old spoken word poet and activist shared that she hopes to increase visibility and awareness around the struggles of young people, and to highlight their accomplishments.
