A Brantford woman currently on house arrest for faking pregnancies and deceiving over a dozen doulas is now facing new charges for similar offences.
Kaitlyn Grace Braun was arrested in Brantford on Wednesday for multiple criminal charges, including obtaining by false pretence, harassing communications, and alleged breach of conditional sentence order.
In February, the 25-year old was sentenced to two years of house arrest followed by another three years of probation after pleading guilty to falsely using the services of several doulas – registered experts who provide guidance and support to women during pregnancy and labour.
The incidents ran between June 2022 and February 2023 with Braun luring the workers and lying about pregnancies, often saying she was carrying a stillborn child, according to Hamilton Police Services.
Investigators say Braun’s latest offences came from allegations that occurred between April 17 and 18, where she reportedly “falsely solicited support related to pregnancy and childbirth from unsuspecting victim(s),” according to a press release by Hamilton police.
Following a bail hearing held Thursday morning, Braun remains in custody.
No further details will be revealed since the matter is now before the courts, according to police.
