Cancer Can’t Dance Like This

CANCER CAN’T DANCE LIKE THIS From Friday (July 8) at Tarragon Mainspace. See listing.

Daniel Stolfi doesn’t give up. In 2008, he and two friends were rehearsing a Fringe show when Stolfi developed a form of lymphoma that required two years of chemotherapy.

Show cancelled.

But the experience led to Cancer Can’t Dance Like This, a solo piece based on his experiences and focused on the comic aspect of the treatment. Filled with larger-than-life characters, the narrative follows Stolfi’s loss of several things: his hair, appetite, sex drive and ability to dance.

The show has toured the country, been nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award and raised over $60,000 for cancer research, but for two years Stolfi wasn’t chosen in the Toronto Fringe lottery.

Third time lucky.
